A thought-provoking seminar examining the historical roots of exclusionary immigration policies across Canada, the U.S., and Europe. Through a comparative lens, three distinguished academics — Professor Tamar Herzog (Harvard University), Professor Willie Mack (Racial Justice Fellow, Carr Center for Human Rights Policy at Harvard Kennedy School), and Professor Idil Atak (Toronto Metropolitan University) — will explore how past policies targeting ethnic and religious groups have shaped contemporary immigration systems and societal discourse. By analyzing these historical practices and their legacies, the panel will offer critical insights into the ongoing challenges of immigration and integration, and what lessons can be learned to foster more inclusive and equitable futures.
